How Foldynote Began

Hello, I hope you are doing well today. As it says on the home page, “Foldynote is something I literally dreamed about one night in October of 2020—a folded note paper with two googly eyes glued to it that has a series of comical adventures.” In the dream, it was a small piece of paper folded by a child who was doing other crafts.

At cleanup time the folded paper was tossed into a craft supplies drawer along with the googly eyes, which by accident happened to stick to the folded paper, which gained consciousness...and the adventures began.

I woke up and sketched the simple concept, which fortunately is very simple.

In the dream, this little friend's name was “Twofold” which I might have kept using, but that name was already in use by several other people. I made a long list of other possible names this this little character—can't find it at the moment—with entries such as “Mister E Note”, “Notefold”, “Folderol” and finally arrived at “Foldynote”, which wasn't being used by anyone else and which I feel is the best.

After I decided on the name for Foldynote, I started sketching Foldynote's expressions and some of the first characters for the webcomic.

I started working on Foldynote using Inkscape, which is a very nice free open source graphics editing application. I also use Affinity Designer and GIMP. My goal is to have a series of lighthearted, fun, somewhat silly comic stories that anyone can enjoy.
